Me: Hi babe, how's he doing?
Him: Well...
Me: Crap, what happened?
Him: So, I went to change his diaper b/c he smelled....
Me: Uh huh,
Him: Got him all wiped off, started to get a new diaper under him and..
Me: He peed on you?
Him: I wish. He projectile pooped on me!
Me: Been there done that. What's for dinner?

A New Found Respect for Single Parents
I just survived the longest night of my life.
It was full of fun filled events.
Getting peed on - check
Son getting his own pee in his face - check
Projectile spit up - check, and oh yes, check again.
4 outfits, 3 bibs and 2 burp cloths later. The child was up four times from 9pm - 5:15am. (Guess karma is really a bitch and I shouldn't have been bragging about his stellar sleeping skills, huh?)
Needless to say, Randy is getting a hand off as soon as he lands tonight. Mommy needs her sleep. And a stiff drink.

I FAIL at Blogging
So, I realize that while my wit and humor may not really be...well, wit and humor...but it has been lacking in the blogging department lately. What once used to be an outlet for me to complain about stupid people and detail at length my culinary cravings has quickly become a place for me to do nothing more than post pictures of Keagan (and I'll admit, he's too damn cute for me not to post new pictures every. single. day.)
But I digress.
As of today, I officially hope to jump back on the blogging wagon. I will warn you ahead of time though, it isn't going to be pretty.
Why you ask?
For starters: I'm lucky if I can remember my name most days. Complete sentences? Yeah, those may be a thing of the past as well.
Also? I walk into a room about 10 times a day in complete and utter confusion and 9 times out of those 10 can't remember for the life of me what the hell I went in there for in the first place.
And let's just forget about me being able to remember most of what I wanted to blog about anyway. Just the other day I had to ask Randy what one of our good friends husbands name was. I literally sat on the couch in mid sentence for roughly five minutes going "Uhhh...you know...that guy...that's married to Annmarie..."
Drool quite literally was coming out the side of my mouth and the vacant stare had progressed quite quickly before he finally took pity on me and filled in the blanks.
So, as you've been warned appropriately now, read at your own...damnit, what's the word I want?
Oh well. You know what I mean. ::head desk::

Tomorrow I Meet My Son
Tomorrow I meet my son.
Tomorrow I get to watch my husband become a father.
Tomorrow I become a mother.
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow we make grandparents into great - grandparents.
Tomorrow we make parents into grandparents.
Tomorrow we make aunts and uncles and cousins.
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow I get to see whose nose, whose hair, whose eyes, whose smile he has.
Tomorrow we get to cuddle, a new family.
Tomorrow we meet our son.

Cookie Theory
My good friend Annmarie is a genius.
When she was pregnant (and overdue with her little munchkin) she thought "Hey, maybe if I set a box of cookies down there she'll just walk right out."
There are four new boxes of Girl Scout cookies in my freezer.
Hell, I'm to the point of trying anything to get this kid out.

You've GOT to be Kidding.
Well, I'm back from my appointment, frustrated as all hell.
Apparently once the version last week failed someone at the office was supposed to call and get me scheduled for the c-section early this week. Obviously this didn't happen because the soonest they can get me in is Monday at 930am.
Yes, I know this is only week more.
Yes, I know that at least now we have a date.
Neither of these points make me feel any less frustrated or make me crying any less annoying.
Shamrock is doing fine. He's just upside down and getting bigger. Especially after the 4 cookies I just ate out of being pissed.

So There is No Confusion
No, I'm not in labor.
No, he hasn't come yet.
Yes, I am beyond ready and yes, I do know that I look like I could go any minute.
Yes, we will be letting everyone know when the c-section is scheduled after our appointment tomorrow at 3pm.
Unless he comes before that, it's safe to assume everything is status quo up in here.

Our Little Shamrock ....
is THIS big this month!

Yes, that's a watermelon.
Per thenestbaby.com at week 37, the pregnancy is considered full term, meaning baby is likely to thrive after birth. Shamrock spends these last weeks in preparation for the outside world… meaning careful refinement of the blink, suck, inhale and exhale. Meconium, which you’ll probably find in the first diaper, is accumulating in the intestines. If (okay, as) I worry about giving birth, I should be considering what it’s like for the little one. During the journey out of your womb, baby will produce more stress hormones than any other time in life.
*Note: Because him being breech isn't stressful enough?
**Note: This kid better cure cancer or be a famous quarterback after these past few weeks!

Version = FAIL
Well, the version didn't work.
They took three tries with the epidural so my back is REALLY sore right now too.
They attempted to move him for roughly a half hour. A half hour of torture. Despite the epidural it hurt like hell. Worst pain of my life. And I'm already showing bruises they tried so hard.
According to the Dr. (who was SO bummed that it didn't work...I'm guessing not as much as we are!) the chances of him moving naturally after all of this are slim to none. He is right comfortable in there and no amount of pushing or prodding is going to move him otherwise.
At my appointment next Tuesday we are going to be scheduling a c-section.
He didn't budge an inch, just sat there and waved basically. I don't know how, but I'm sure this is somehow Randy's fault. :)
Good news is the stubborn little boy took to the epidural great and all of the pushing and pulling just fine. While they were doing the 10th u/s they did notice a little cyst on his testicles but they said it happens all the time and not to worry about it, so for right now I'm not going to.
I'm VERY tired despite the two hour nap Randy and I just took. My back where the epidural was is VERY sore.
Will keep you updated on the mis-adventures of Shamrock as I'm sure there is more to come!

34 Weeks Down...
Six more to go.
Oh boy.
I had my check - up last night. All is well. Shamrock is head down (which I suspected due to his constant kicking of my ribs), I'm measuring perfect and life is grand.
The "Holy Crap" moment of the appointment? They had me schedule my appointments through my due date week.
There aren't that many.
Good thing I don't freak out unneccesarily about things huh? (sarcasm, it's key.)

You Want Me to Put that WHERE?
I realized my biggest fear of becoming a parent today while interviewing our pediatrician.
Rectal Thermometers.
Scared. To. Death.

Bed Rest
You read that right. I'm on mandatory bed rest for the next week (at least). At my ultrasound appointment this afternoon they discovered that I was already dilating (MUCH too early). My doctor wants to head off any early labor right away, so here I sit.
Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes for me to lose my ever loving mind from boredom?
Seriously though, this sucks. Everything has been going so smoothly up to this point. I just KNEW something was wrong though when the tech said she had to talk to the Dr. before I left. Two minutes later my Dr. is on the tech's cell telling me I'm out of work and off my feet until at least next Monday.
Thankfully Randy isn't traveling for the rest of the year and is amazing (a fact I knew, but it's nice to have it smack me in the face again.) If nothing else I have a week off from cooking (and working out!)
I know it's preventative, but it's pretty hard admitting I'm not Super Woman. I'll keep everyone posted.

Third Trimester
Well, it's 7:15 Sunday morning. The house is quiet other than the coffee brewing and the heat kicking on. Randy and Skittles, per the norm, are cuddled in bed. I'm sure I won't be seeing either of them until much later in the day.
So why am I up?
Other than Shamrock kicking me on and off since about 3am, I couldn't get my head to stop racing. You know what I mean. You wake up, get a drink of water, readjust and BAM ~ off goes the brain on a tangent all its own.
It's never just one thing either that you can think about, analyze, put away and fall back to sleep. Nope. Today mine was:
Did I finish the movie last night? Did Randy put the extra lasagna tray in the freezer? What am I going to do about Christmas presents this year (hello, I haven't done ANY shopping yet? Was that him moving? Yup, that's him moving. Awww...there's a baby in there moving. A real baby. Think we'll get the nursery done in time? Where should we put the crip? HOLY CRAP, WHAT am I going to do with a baby? Can we do this? How on EARTH do people do this?
And that continued on for roughly 4 hours while I tossed and turned, tried getting comfortable and listened to Randy and Skittles snore in harmony.
A few of my very good mommy friends have given me several gems of wisdom that should ease all these worries about what type of mom I'm going to be, how everything comes to you naturally once the baby arrives, how I can do this, we can do this and we're going to be great at it. I appreciate all this reassurance (and 100% prefer it over the horrors of labor stories that I've begun getting bombarded with) but nevertheless there is still that part of my brain that feels him kicking and goes "Oh boy, he's going to be on the outside doing that soon."
I know Randy and I are going to be great parents. I know that this baby is going to be so loved he's probably going to have to be in therapy by 18. Still, there is that part of me (and I'm sure every mom to be and first time mom) that wonders how on Earth you got chosen to be the one to guide this new little person through their life especially when you are still trying to figure out how to guide yourself.
And this my friend will keep my head busy for the next three hours until I have a thought about cookies or some other mindless whim that sends my pregnancy brain out and about.
Third trimester today. Not much longer.
