Love Letter: Month Nine

Dear Keagan,

What a whirlwind of a month this has been! As predicted with the holidays approaching it has been just nuts in the house! Add into that the fact that you are mobile, and in a big, fast way mobile and let's just say Mommy is beat.

So yes, you're crawling. And not just GI Joe Army crawling. Nope, you are on the move. And into EVERYTHING. Nothing and nobody is safe in your path. For some reason you seem to be especially keen to get into Skittles bowl, a fact that she is not happy about in the least.

You had your first overnight without Mommy or Daddy last month. Grandma Janice watched you while we went to visit friends. Of course, you were an angel. You even slept until 8:30am (which, by the way, it would be nice if you ever wanted to do that for us...just sayin'.)

You got to hang out with the whole family and play with your cousins, Aunts and Uncles.

Psst...that isn't Daddy - that's Uncle Ryan. I can see why you may be confused though.

To end the month was your first Thanksgiving. And in true Mommy fashion I didn't take one darn picture. Figures too because you had the sweetest...er, manliest onesie with a tie on. So cute. You also got to spend time with your Grandma Mimi, Grandpa Joe and Cousin Jonnie who came to celebrate Thanksgiving with Great Grandma Ginger and Great Grandpa Tony! Let me tell ya, you were a HUGE fan of baked sweet potatoes!

All in all it's been a pretty great month. We brought you to see the (new) Doctor and found out that you will in fact be the starting line for the Bills (ok, hopefully a better team than the Bills...maybe by then they'll be good?). Weighing in at 26 lbs and a cool 32 inches long...yeah, you're the size of a toddler. And we love every inch of you.

We're up to five teeth now and I can't even begin to tell you how freakin' cute you look with teeth. A. Dor. A. Ble.

So, keep up the good work buddy. We love you more and more every day.

Love,
Mommy

Love Letter: Month Eight

Dear Keagan,

Hey there bud. What's shakin'?

I wish I could tell you that there is so much that I have to write to you this month...but sadly, much like the lack of pictures I took I seem to have forgotten much that I wanted to say to you.

It's been a busy month, as usual in this house. We spent a weekend down in Albany visiting Emily and Mark - you were a little angel and I *think* you may have ignited baby fever down that ways as well! We also had a chance to go see Great Grandma and Grandpa (both sets!) and your grandparents. Good thing you're such a good traveler.

Halloween came and went without nearly as much hoopla as I know will be next year. And in true mommy fashion I didn't get a ton of pictures of you in your costume. You were a skeleton and Mommy and Daddy were x-ray techs. Lame, I know but it was that or The Incredibles, and lets face it, neither your father or I would look that great in red spandex.

Winter is right around the corner and in true Central NY fashion the temps have been ridiculously cold. Which means you, little man? Needed a winter coat. Now, you won't appreciate this reference now but...you bear a striking resemblance to the little brother in A Christmas Story

One day we'll watch it (even though I loathe it) and you'll understand.

The really big news we have? YOU HAVE TEETH!! That's right, not just one but THREE TEETH. But in true stubborn fashion you have pretty much refused to show them to me when I get the camera out. So I sit in waiting. I'll get you. That's a promise.

You have gotten a lot more mobile this month and use the Army crawl as your main means of transportation. I have a feeling once you figure it out you're going to be off like a rocket. And Mommy is going to have to drink heavily.

All in all it was a good month. I'm so looking forward to your first Thanksgiving next month! YAY! Lots to look forward to, the best is yet to come.

Love you little man,
Mommy

Love Letter: Month Seven

Dear Keagan,

Once again I'm late with your love letter. And I have no excuse other than lack of time. Sorry babe.

September was a busy, busy month for you bud. You're growing like a weed - seriously. I got you out of your crib the other morning and looked at Daddy and said "Is it me or has he gotten longer?" And you have. I'd say by an inch at least. In a month.

You're doing all sorts of new things lately...the most frightening, errr I mean awesome? You have figured out how to sit up all by yourself. How do I know this? Because that's how I found you in your crib the other night on the verge of attempting to pull yourself up. Needless to say the crib has been lowered.

Crawling looks to be right around the corner for you too, though you admittedly seem perfectly content to just roll everywhere. Which would be fine if you would just not roll into walls and stuff. You tend to get pretty irritated when you can't figure out how to roll the other way.

Teeth still haven't shown up. I don't even want to talk about it. Seriously.

We took you apple picking for the first time this month. You loved it! Loved being outside, loved the hay ride, loved it. Unfortunately in true CNY fashion it is getting really cold out now so I doubt we'll be doing it again. But we do have to hit up the pumpkin patch soon! Aw, think of the photo ops...of the pictures I'll bust out on your prom night. Of you in your acorn hat. Which reminds me, I still need a picture of that. Daddy will be thrilled. ::snort::

We're entering the holiday season (yes, I start the holiday season with Halloween, what of it?) so that means we're on the go again soon. Lots to do, lots to see. I can't wait.

All in all things are going well buddy. Now if you could start sleeping through the night again, that would be awesome.

Love you little man, to pieces.

Mommy

Love Letter: Month Six

Dear Keagan,

A 1/2 of a year has gone by since you were born. 6 whole months (ok, 6 and a half because I fail at blogging and am just NOW getting to this...and that is only because you and Daddy are out on a walk so the house is silent and I have 15 minutes of unadulterated computer time. But I digress.)(and I've had this is draft form for three days now.)

What a big month for you. You're sitting up all by yourself like a champ. Seriously, you'll sit on your blanket for LONG time, just chilling. Baby Beethoven has been known to keep you enthralled for easily a 1/2 hour until you decide it's time to move.

Yeah, about that? Could you at very least attempt to NOT roll into the wood part of the ottoman? It hurts. Every time. And then you get stuck there. And then you cry. There is all that open space to the right of you, you'd think you would just roll the other way. But no. You must go left. ::headdesk::

You did fabulous at your Dr.'s appointment this month, even if he is a tool. Despite him stating that you were gaining too much weight (and totally ignoring the fact that you also grew a good 3 inches) you are on track in every way possible. Don't tell me my kid isn't perfect. It would be a lie. And hello? Your Daddy isn't exactly a munchkin so what does he expect?

We had lots of visitors at the house this month. Daddy turned 30 so we had a nice party. Which of course you were the star of. As usual you were an angel. So proud of you. Oh and you thoroughly enjoyed your first State Fair.

There is a lot going on in the next couple months and I'm so excited to show you things. Your first fall. Your first Halloween. Your first snow. Your first me telling Daddy to go snow blow the driveway. Your first Christmas. Lots of firsts. Lots more to come. It gets more and more exciting everyday.

Now if you could just get that first tooth to come through that would be great.

Big hugs and kisses,
Mommy

Love Letter: Month Five

Dear Keagan,

Five months. It doesn't seem possible. I know I say that every month, but WOW.

It's been a busy month for Mommy and Daddy (as you can note I'm already a full week behind schedule with this letter.) Between 4th of July, my new job and numerous other events we've been pretty much on the go non-stop. Yet, through it all you keep being the smiley baby we've grown to know and love.

I got an email today from BabyCenter - one of those "This is what is going on with your 5 month, 2 week old." Basically it said that now is the time that your "Stranger Danger" tendencies may be kicking in, making it impossible to hand you off not only to strangers, but even to those people you know. Shockingly (can you hear my sarcasm?) you haven't gotten there yet. You are perfectly content to go to Gram, Grandma Janice, Timmy, anyone.

Let's talk about rolling for a minute here. Not only are you rolling front to back AND back to front, but you are also rolling EVERYWHERE. You see the exercauser over there....roll three times and you're at it. You don't want to sit in your bouncer anymore? Oh that's ok, you'll just attempt to roll out of it too. Out of control. I know this is just the beginning, but man alive, can you sit still for 30 seconds? 9 times out of 10 we find you just rolling back and forth in your crib with your feet in your mouth.

You're getting closer and closer to sitting by yourself. Most of the time you'll sit there for about 5 seconds and then fold in half or fall to the side. That's ok though, you'll just roll out of it and continue on your way.

While I know there has been so much more that I want to share with you, I'm sadly exhausted and can't even think straight right now. Just know that we love you, more and more everyday.

Love,

Mommy

Love Letter - Month Four

Dear Keagan,

I can't believe you are already four months old. It just doesn't seem possible. Where is this time going? Looking back at your "old" pictures it makes me smile uncontrollably to see how much you have already grown.

Lots going on for your this month. One - you are a TANK to the extreme. 19 pounds, 27 inches long. The Dr. is estimating that you are probably going to be about 6'3" when you finally stop growing - making you WELL above Mommy and Daddy's height. All I have to say to this is: College. Scholarship.

You're also teething like it is nobody's business. Drool Factory? Table of One. Needless to say you are perpetually in a bib. Also, it's a good thing Mommy spent $20 on a teether - that Skittles thinks is hers.

You've also made a fascinating discovery. Your feet. Yeah, makes diaper changes a breeze when you are rolling side to side trying to shove them both in your mouth. It's a good thing you're cute.

We've also started transitioning you to yummy solid foods. Mmmmm....oatmeal (blech) and carrots. You seem to enjoy it, but I haven't seen you turn away food yet so I'm not really all that surprised.

You had a busy month filled with trips to Buffalo, trips to Grams, Mommy's birthday and the 4th of July. Such a good baby, and of course you stole the show wherever we went!

I have a feeling the next couple of months are going to include a LOT of motion on your part. As it is you are a HUGE wiggle worm in your crib.

More often than not we find you facing the complete opposite direction from how we put you in there. You are getting close to sitting on your own as well, though admittedly you fall about 10 seconds into it. I have a feeling you'll be scooting around like crazy very soon.

All in all, it has been a great month. You're such a pleasant baby...barely cry unless hungry or wet. You let everyone hold you and just love being talked to. Really, it can't get much better than this, but I know it will.

Love you babe.
