Did I Tell You About ...

I know it has been a couple of weeks since our NYC Anniversary trip and that I failed miserably in the re-cap of said trip. But, there is one story that, while Randy will probably beat me for posting, I HAVE to share.

::scene set-up::

After driving 4 hours to the big city, crossing the Queensboro Bridge at 10am and entering Long Island City, Randy hands me the phone.

R: Why don't you call the hotel to see if they happen to have off-street parking.

Me: Ok. ::dials # pre-programmed into phone::

:ring, ring:

Me: Hi, do you have off-street parking? You do? First come, first serve? Great! Thanks!

R: Do they?

Me: Did you not just hear me say that?

As we approach hotel we keep our eyes peeled for the off-street parking, to no avail. After circling the block 5 times, Randy tells me to get out and go ask the concierge where said parking is.

I come out 5 minutes later to tell him that there is in fact NOT off-street parking, despite previous conversation. I direct him to the two closest parking lots. We start circling.

It's now 11:15am.

First parking lot = Fail. Second parking lot = Double Fail.

We keep circling.

Finally we find a 24/7 parking lot. Eight blocks away from our hotel.

And he wants to bring our bags now.

And mine doesn't have wheels.

And now it's getting warm.

And I have ballet flats on.

We arrive back at the hotel and let them know that we would like to check our bags prior to check-in.

Concierge: I'm sorry, we don't have a reservation under that name.

Me: Awesome.

Randy: ::fuming, drags out laptop::

Five minutes later.

Randy: Oh.

Me: What?

Randy: We're at the wrong hotel (aside - HE put the address into the GPS and HE drove). We're at the Comfort Suites. We're supposed to be at the Country Inn and Suites.

Me: OK. Where is our correct hotel?

Answer?

Directly across the street from where we parked our car.

Like a stone's throw away.

I'm not kidding.

Needless to say, it was a pretty quiet eight block walk back.
